In autumn, we are building resilience and reserves for the winter ahead. My experience as a Chinese Medicine practitioner for over 30 years taught me the importance of honoring the seasons with mindful self care. Today as a Life Resilience Coach, I continue to provide clients with space to evaluate their lives and take action towards a heart-full life. Sometimes, that means resting!
Taking time to pause and tend to your own needs is important. Even if you only have a few minutes to spare, you can try these ideas to help you check in and explore your own dimensions of wellness:
1. Take ample time to rest & replenish.
If you’re feeling tired, try a short nap or just sit for a spell! It does body and soul a lot of good.
2. Appreciate the beauty all around.
Observe the changing colors, scents, sounds and the feel of the air against your cheeks as the season changes from autumn to winter!
3. Notice what nourishes you.
Notice what, who and where feels nourishing to you - and what/who does not! Focus on cultivating nourishing relationships.
4. Create something beautiful!
Create a painting, a poem, some pottery, a collage, a quilt, a dance, or whatever you like! Let the little kid in you enjoy a great time!
5. Enjoy the simple things in life.
Joy is our birthright. It is not something we “get” from things or other people, it is part of our true nature, already within us. True joy allows us to enjoy the simple things in life and each other more fully and deeply.
6. Practice patience.
“Patience expands your options. If you insist on immediate gratification, your choices are severely limited.”
- publisher Ralph Marston.
I hope these 6 self care tips bring you clarity and give you the opportunity to take care of yourself this autumn.
